How to set up voicemail on Samsung Galaxy
Samsung Galaxy phones use the Samsung Phone app. Visual voicemail usually comes from a separate Voicemail app that depends on your carrier. Menu names vary by carrier and One UI version.
Using the voice menu
- Open the Phone app and press and hold 1 on the keypad.
- Follow your carrier's prompts to choose a language and create a voicemail password.
- Record your name, then record a personal greeting or choose the standard one.
- Hang up once the system confirms your mailbox is set up.
Using the Voicemail app
- Open the Voicemail app (it may be in a carrier folder), or tap the voicemail button in the Phone app if your carrier supports it.
- Accept the terms and allow any permissions it asks for.
- Follow the setup screens. Some carrier apps ask you to set your password by phone first and then sign in with it.
- Choose or record a greeting when prompted.
Tip: check the voicemail number
If holding 1 gives an error, open the Phone app, tap the three-dot menu → Settings → Voicemail settings (or Supplementary services, depending on version), and confirm that the voicemail number matches the one your carrier lists.
Check that voicemail works
Call your number from another phone and leave a short test message. It should show up in the Voicemail app or play when you press and hold 1. If the call rings out with no voicemail, the mailbox isn't active yet: repeat the voice-menu setup above, or ask your carrier to enable voicemail on your plan. A new SIM or a number moved from another carrier often needs this.
Once it works, record a greeting: see how to change your voicemail greeting on Samsung.
